EQ Express: Excepted Quantity Dangerous Goods

EQ Express: Excepted Quantity Dangerous Goods

Moving small samples of hazardous or regulated material does not always demand the full weight of dangerous goods logistics, but it does demand accuracy.

The Excepted Quantity (EQ) provisions under ADR and IATA provide a streamlined, cost-effective route for low-volume shipments, provided the classification, packaging, and documentation are handled correctly from the outset.

Our EQ Express service manages the entire movement compliantly. We begin by identifying the correct UN number and proper shipping name, confirming the material fits within EQ quantity limits, and verifying it is legally permissible to transport by the chosen mode.

We then supply or inspect compliant packaging (inner, intermediate, and outer), including absorbent materials, cushioning, and pressure-tested containers where required, and apply the required Excepted Quantity diamond mark and any carrier-specific labels.

One of the practical advantages of EQ is reduced documentation: no full dangerous goods declaration is required. We prepare the simplified paperwork, typically a transport document or airway bill and Safety Data Sheet, keeping the process efficient without introducing compliance risk. For pharmaceutical and clinical clients, we can layer in GPS tracking, temperature control, and a signed chain-of-custody where the nature of the sample demands it.

EQ Express is used by research laboratories, universities, chemical manufacturers, and flavour and fragrance companies: any organisation that needs to move small quantities of regulated material cost-effectively and without delays. It is a genuinely streamlined service, handled by people for whom these regulations are not a specialism. They are the job.
